DIY Ring Display Idea

Hello everyone!

I’ve been loving making jewelry since the day I started a few months ago and honestly I have never stopped. It’s been a fun hobby that keeps me busy when I’m not working; it makes me really happy to see the final result of each handmade piece. Starting from scratch, learning from videos and books, picking a few beads and tools and creating something that you would have never thought people would actually want to buy; this is the best thing ever! Doing what you love feels so good! Do you know that feeling when you start something new and realize it’s going to be something that you will be enjoying doing for a long loong time and possibly/hopefully forever? That’s what making jewelry is for me.

Da quando ho iniziato a fare gioielli fatti a mano un paio di mesi fa non mi sono più fermata. È un hobby divertenti che mi tiene occupata quando non lavoro; vedere il risultato finale di ogni creazione fatta con le mie mani è una sensazione indescrivibile. Partire da zero, imparare da video su internet e libri, scegliere le prime perline e attrezzi e creare qualcosa che la gente vuole comprare e non l’avresti mai pensato; è stupendo! Fare quello che si ama è una gioia! Hai presente quella sensazione quando cominci qualcosa di nuovo e realizzi che è l’inizio di una grande passione? È così che mi sento quando creo nuovi gioielli.

So I recently started silversmithing and I love it! I will write a blog post about it soon. Long story short I made a few rings that I plan on selling in my Etsy shop soon. I was thinking about ways to display them to take pictures for the shop and I came out with this idea. I thought it was kinda cool so I decided to take pictures step by step how I made it, in case you want to give it a try here is how I made these ring displays! Enjoy!

Di recente ho cominciato a lavorare con l’argento e già lo adoro! Scriverò un post a riguardo molto presto. In breve ho creato degli anelli che presto metterò in vendita sul mio negozio Etsy. Stavo pensando a come disporli per le foto del negozio e ho visto questa idea. Mi sembrava un’idea così carina che ho deciso di fare un tutorial se volete provare a farlo anche voi. Ecco qui!

Materials:

Square cubes 1″ x 1″ ($3.99 at Hobby Lobby)
Dremel or similar
Sand paper (120 grit)

Materiale:

Cubetti di legno
Dremel o simile
Carta vetrata

If you don’t have a Dremel you can carve the wood. It’s going to take a little bit of time but nothing complicated!

So the first thing you want to do is place a ring on one of these square cubes and measure approximately how big the cut needs to be. Next start carving into the wood! This is the trickiest part. I suggest you keep trying to place the ring in the cut, making sure it’s not too wide, not too shallow.

Se non avete un Dremel potete intagliare il legno. Ci vorrà un po’ più di tempo ma nulla di complicato!

La prima cosa che vi suggerisco di fare è mettere un anello sopra ad un cubetto e misurare all’incirca quanto grande sarà il taglio che dovete incidere. Poi cominciate a fare il taglio! Vi suggerisco anche di fermarvi spesso e provare a mettere l’anello nella fessura: non dev’essere né troppo larga, né troppo superficiale.
