New craft space, new passion!

Hello everybody!

It feels nice to be back every once in a while! Ahh, the adult life! I got home from work not a long ago and all I wanted to do is update this blog writing a post.

Let’s start with some news! I didn’t forget about crafts & DIYs! In fact, I have a brand new crafty space in my new apartment! Ta daaa

Ciao a tutti!

Che bello tornare qui una volta ogni tanto! Ahh, la vita da adulti! Sono tornata da lavoro non molto tempo fa e volevo a tutti i costi scrivere qualcosa sul mio blog.

Cominciamo con le newzzz! Non mi sono dimenticata dei lavoretti fai da te, no! Anzi, ho un nuovo angoletto/lavoretti tutto per me nel nuovo appartamento! Ta daaa

Most of it it’s from IKEA (desk, chair, spice rack, magnetic spice holders, pencil holders, table lamp). I filled the magnetic spice holders with pins and stationary goods. I think they look so pretty!

La maggior parte viene da IKEA (scrivania, sedia, porta spezie magnetico, porta penne, lampada). Ho riempito i porta spezie con delle puntine, graffette ed elastici. Me piasciono assai!

Everything is so organised, colourful and clean…I love it! Spaces like this always inspire me to be more productive and create new projects! What does your productive space look like?

Tutto è super organizzato, ordinato e pulito. Sono gli spazi così che mi ispirano e mi rendono più produttiva! Qual è il tuo spazio/posto produttivo?

Changing argument…I don’t know if I ever told you this thing about me, but I build new passions quite regularly. It’s nothing planned or premeditated. It just happens every a few months. For example in the last few months I had a passion for plants! I surrounded myself with plants in the apartment and believe it or not they’re all still alive. Another example: interior decorating! I’ve watched several YouTube videos and TV programs about it I can almost tell you all the basics! What else? Photography and video editing! Thanks to a friend of mine I learned the basics to make professional time-lapses and video editing techniques using Adobe Premiere and other softwares. I am just a nerdish sometimes. I find something new that I like, I start looking for inspirations, tutorials, videos, artist stories and boom! In less than a week I know the basics of everything and I can do whatever. Then, to become a professional it’s a looong way…but for now I know something! It’s never anything sublime and extraordinary but little by little I think I could make something pretty sweet!

Cambiando argomento…non so se vi ho mai detto questa cosa riguardo me stessa: ho una passione nuova ogni due tre mesi praticamente. Non è niente di programmato, della serie: questo mese mi dedico a questo, tra due mesi a quest’altro. nono ciò. È semplicemente qualcosa che mi capita a caso, ma sempre molto regolarmente. Per esempio: passione per le piante! Mi sono circondata di piante negli ultimi mesi, e sono tutte ancora vive! Olè! Un altro esempio: decorazione d’interni! Mi sono guardata centinaia di video su YouTube e serie TV che non potete nemmeno immaginare. So dirvi tutto delle basi, dei colori da non accostare, degli oggetti piccoli ma fondamentali. Cos’altro? Fotografia e video editing! Time-lapse e Adobe Premiere! Sono un po’ nerd a volte. Trovo qualcosa che mi piace, comincio a cercare ispirazioni, tutorial, video, biografie di artisti e boom! In meno di una settimana conosco le basi di tutto. Poi per arrivare ad un livello avanzato ce ne vuole…ma intanto qualcosina conosco! E le mie cosine le faccio!

My latest passion is surface pattern design. “What the freak?” you might think. Well just think about those cute patterns that you see on wrapping papers, birthday cards, shower curtains, phone cases, table mats…anything that has a repetitive pattern on it has been made by a surface pattern illustrator. Trust me, I didn’t even know it was a thing, but I am so glad I found out about it. So of course I started looking for inspiration on Pinterest, watched a thousand of videos and paid tutorial on how to use Adobe Illustrator (the go-to software to make surface pattern illustrations), and how to make surface patterns. I have always loved doodling on paper and on the computer with my Wacom Bamboo (graphic tablet) and I am so glad I found a way to combine these two passion into one. If you follow me on Instagram you probably already saw my first illustrations. I am so happy a lot of people liked them! Here they are:

La mia passione più recente si chiama surface pattern design. Non mi chiedete la traduzione perché proprio non sono in vena di cercarla haha. In poche parole si tratta di tutti quei pattern e disegni ripetuti che vedi ogni giorno sulla carta da regalo, biglietti di auguri, tende per la doccia, custodie per telefoni, tovagliette ecc. Tutto quello che ha un pattern ripetuto è stato creato da un illustratore di pattern! Credetemi, non sapevo neanch’io che esistesse una roba simile, ma sono super lieta di averlo scoperto! Quindi, ovviamente, mi sono messa a cercare informazioni, video, tutorial, Pinterest, come usare Adobe Illustrator (il programma più gettonato per questo tipo di illustrazioni), e come creare surface patterns. Mi è sempre piaciuto scarabocchiare su fogli e sul computer con la tavoletta grafica e non poteva esserci niente di più perfetto di una combinazione di queste due passioni! Se mi seguite su Instagram avrete già visto le poche illustrazioni che ho fatto. Sono proprio contenta che siano piaciute a tanti! Eccole qua:

I found a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and this website called freepik where people upload pictures and illustrations (the first 2 illustrations are inspired by the author nenilkime and his free artworks). Every time I have a moment in the evening I doodle some things on the computer and next thing you know I made another simple pattern!

Ho trovato ispirazioni da Pinterest e freepik (le prime due illustrazioni sono imitazioni dell’autore nemilkime). Molto spesso mi ci metto di sera e creo qualcosina di semplice che sommato ad altre figure però mi dà un pattern così vivo!

Since I am a bit of a nerd I also found out about this website called society6 where illustrators can sell their art! By uploading your illustrations you can pick where you want them to be printed (iPhone case, pillow, backpack, sticker, travel mug etc.) and you can actually earn a bit from it! (not sure how much). It’s a nice way to find new illustrators and get in touch with other people getting known a bit everywhere! I just created a profile and I uploaded the cacti pattern! E siccome sono un po’ nerd dicevo, ho trovato anche un sito famoso chiamato society6 dove gli illustratori possono vendere la loro arte! Caricano le loro illustrazioni e scelgono su quale oggetto stamparle e voilà, se si è fortunati qualcuno le comprerà! Si guadagna qualche soldino, niente di che (a dire il vero non so neanche quanto) ed è un bel modo per conoscere altri creatori! Ho creato il mio profilo (ancora in costruzione) e ho messo in vendita i miei primi gadget! Potete darci un’occhiata e seguirmi! Sono proprio felice di aver iniziato qualcosa di nuovo!
