Hello everybody! I hope you’re all doing well!
I decided to make this DIY for those of you who live close to the beach or are lucky enough to go on vacation in a warm place, with beautiful sand.
*covered in blankets while outside is raining*
I collect sand from every beach I go to. I like to display it in little jars and add some decoration and shells. Today I tried a different type ofย container: a lightbulb! I’ve been seeing a lot of crafts using lightbulbs on Pinterest, but none (or a very few) containing sand and shells.
If you’re interested here is how I made it!
To openย the lightbulb you will need:
- a clear lightbulb (duh)
- different kinds of pliers. Don’t ask me the specific names, I don’t even know them in Italian ๐
Per aprire la lampadina avrai bisogno di:
- una lampadina trasparente (ma va?)
- diversi tipi di pinze. Non chiedetemiย i nomi perchรฉ non li so ๐
โ You will be breaking glass during this DIY, so make sure you work over paper or a box. And be careful! โ
E fai attenzione! โ
1. Grab the metal solder point with a plier and take it off.
2. Twist the solder point with your pointy pliers. It is attached by some wires so once they are detached you can break it and lift it up. Remember toย neverย firmly grasp the lightbulb byย theย glass as it might break.
3. Hold the metal screwing part and break the glass tube that you see twisting it with some pliers. Once you broke it and removed all the broken bits, grab a screwdriver and press it where the glass tube was, breaking the remaining glass.
4. Use some pliers or tweezers to lift the rest of the tube out. Shake the rest of the filament out and empty the lightbulb.

Time for the fun part! Fill the lightbulb with anything you want!
With a white marker I wrote the place where the sand is from.
And that’s it!
I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you’re going to give it a try!
Spero che vi sia piaciuto questo post! Fatemi sapere se decidete di provarlo!

That’s such a cool idea! I don’t live anywhere near a beach, but now I’m wondering what else I could put in a lightbulb…
