Blogmas #2
Hello everyone! Welcome to my second Blogmas post!
Today I decided to show you this super easy DIY that I always make for Christmas to decorate the stairs. I feel like decorating the stairs is not the first thing that comes in mind when we start making the house christmassy. Some people go for some string lights, other people add banister garlands, stockings, ribbons etc.
I never really decorated the stairs/banister until 2 years ago. I think I saw this idea on Pinterest years ago, forgive me but I don’t remember the name of the source. They decorated the banister with fake snow and added some cute penguins sliding down. I fell in love instantly and since then I have done this to our banister for Christmas. I made it a bit different though: as you may have noticed from the title I am using snowmen!
This is a pretty fun decorating idea to make and so many guests at our house loved this, especially kids. 😊 So let’s get started!
😊 Cominciamo!
What you will need:
- Fake fluffy snow
- String lights (optional)
- Penguins/snowmen/anything you want to be “sliding down” the banister
- Tape
- Safety pins
Occorrente:
- Neve finta
- Luci di Natale (facoltativo)
- Pinguini/pupazzi di neve/qualunque cosa tu voglia far “scivolar giù” sullo scorrimano
- Scotch
- Aghi di sicurezza
1. Tape the string light to the banister
2. Add fake snow using safety pins. If that is not enough you can use some ribbons so that it doesn’t move.
3. Now you need to pin the snowmen, penguins or whatever you’re using. I used some safety pins here too but if you want you can just sew them to the fake snow.

I love this! We always decorated the stairs with garland growing up, and it’s my one regret with our current house on 1 story – no stairs to decorate!

I love it! Did you have the snowmen anyway or did you get them/make them specially for it?

Thank you! I already had the snowmen. I actually used them as tree ornaments for Christmas a while ago 😊

Any suggestions on where to find little penguins?

Hi there and sorry for the delay! We got those penguins many years ago in Italy, I believe they were handmade.

I found these on Amazon that work well. I tried velcro on the bums and also used string and a zip tie to attach them. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07FF8GNHM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’ve been searching for something likethis. I love this! One question though, where didyou getthe fake snow? Is it a blanket type snow?

Hi there and sorry for the delay! It is indeed a furry blanket/thick cloth that we cut to fit many years ago. We purchased it in Italy but I’m sure you can find something similar at a craft store!
