DIY Chevron Friendship Bracelet โœ‚๏ธ๐ŸŽ—

Today’s DIY is a throwback to the old days! When I was a kid I used to love making bracelets of any kindย and I still do. I remember one day me and my friend Greta set up a little table on the sidewalk. We started making bracelets and gave them away for free to the people who were walking by โ˜บ๏ธ Itย may sound boring but it was actually so much fun back in the day ๐Ÿ˜›

But anyway here is a tutorial for this bracelet. I decided to make an chevron pattern so here is what you need:

dsc_0822-2

  • embroidery floss
  • scissors
  • tape

Occorrente

  • fili di cotone
  • forbici
  • scotch

1. Cut several strings of embroidery floss (about 80cm/31 inches). I am using 3 colours here but the more strings you use, the wider the bracelet. Fold the strings in half and create a loopย just like in the picture. Secure the bracelet while you work on it. I suggest a clip board, I used tape at first but it became impossible to work with it so I tied it to a bench…you will see. Spread the strings out so that the colours are symmetric.

1. Taglia dei fili lunghi all’incirca 80cm. Io ho dovuto cambiare sistema perchรฉ continuava a sfilarsi quindi poi l’ho legato alla panca…vedrai dalle foto). Separa i fili in modo simmetrico.

(The light was pretty bad today. I tried to edit the pictures but somehow the blue strings always look white so I wrote the colours next to the strings)

2. Start with the left most string and make a knot over the second string, then pull it under and through the hole. Tighten and repeat once more. You will always have to make 2 knots overย each string, moving from left to right until you reach the center.

3. Now as you can see, the first red string will be on the left. You are still working with the blue one so go ahead and make 2 knots on the white string.
3. Ora come puoi vedere, il primo filo a sinistra sarร  il rosso.

4. Once you get to the center, stop. Leave the left side and start working on the right side. Remember: on the left side you will have 3ย strings in this order: red, white, blue. As you can see the first string we used (blue) is now in the middle. Now take the blue string on the right side and this time you will create a knot this way. As you can see on the picture before the “belly” ofย knot was on the left, now we have it on the right.

5. Make 2 knots on the white string as well and stop. Look at the picture: now you have the 2 “blue” strings in the center. So go ahead and make 2 knots this way. You will notice that the 2 blue strings will switch side.

6. Now start over with the first string on the left side, which it’s going to be the red one. Keep doing this until the bracelet is long enough for your wrist.

Here Iย gave up with the tape and used the bench.

7. Finish the bracelet with a knot.
7. Finisci il braccialetto con un nodo.

8. Now you can either finishย the bracelet the traditional way or just add a button.ย To do so, pick 2 strings, thread them to the holes and tighten them to secure the button in place. Then cut off any excess threads. That’s why I started with a loop, it makes it easier to take it off and on.
Poi taglia i fili in piรน e hai finito!

  1. How cool! I use to make these bracelet as a child too, I wish I would’ve thought to give them away, because we ended up with so many of them laying around the house lol. My mom did not like that.
